Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled the first images of the all-new 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV, a fully electric subcompact SUV set to arrive in Canada and North America in late summer or early fall 2026. Developed in partnership with Nissan and based on the next-generation Nissan LEAF, the Eclipse Sportback will feature unique Mitsubishi styling, including distinctive front and rear fascias, lighting elements, alloy wheels, and the brand’s signature Triple Diamond identity.

The revival of the Eclipse name, first introduced in North America in 1990, marks another step in Mitsubishi’s electrification strategy under its Momentum 2030 plan. The company also confirmed plans to launch at least one new or significantly updated vehicle annually through 2030.

Because the 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV is based on the next-generation Nissan LEAF, it will share an important foundation with one of the most recognizable electric nameplates in the industry. Nissan has already previewed the new LEAF as a more crossover-like EV with improved efficiency, updated technology, and a new design direction.
